— This is a products liability action against the manufacturer of a prescription drug (theophylline) which is used to alleviate symptoms of asthma. In 1979, Plaintiff suffered permanent brain damage as a result of seizures allegedly caused by toxic levels of theophylline in his bloodstream. Plaintiff claims his injuries resulted from the manufacturer’s failure to provide adequate information and warnings to prescribing physicians about the effect of viral illnesses on the body’s ability to metabolize the drug.
