HEMPHILL, District Judge.

This action, in which petitioner seeks the Great Writ, originated in Greenville County, South Carolina. Porter, his wife and several children resided in a private dwelling just outside of the City of Greenville. On December 31, 1965, the petitioner was in his residence with his wife and children when officers of the State Law Enforcement Division and of*953ficers of the Greenville County Sheriff’s Department knocked at the door of the residence.
