LAVERY, J.
The defendant, Yale-New Haven Hospital, Inc., appeals from the judgment rendered after a trial to the court awarding the plaintiff, Clorissa Hellamns, damages for injuries sustained in a fall on the defendant’s property. The defendant claims that the court applied a standard of care contrary to law. The defendant also claims that the plaintiff failed to establish that *407the defendant had notice of the defect. We reverse the judgment of the court.
