Casey's General Stores, Inc. v. Blackford

Supreme Court of Iowa

1Opinion of the Court

CADY, Justice.

In this appeal, we must decide if the district court erred in dismissing a disability discrimination claim brought under the Iowa Civil Rights Act by an employee against his employer for failing to reassign him to a non-driving position or grant him a leave of absence after his driver’s license was suspended and he was unable to perform the essential functions of his job as a truck driver. The Civil Rights Commission awarded the employee damages, and the district court dismissed the claim on judicial review. On our review, we affirm the district court.
