Sigmund Stiefel and Pauline Rothschild appeal from a judgment rendered in an action brought against them by the Salina Mercantile Company, a Kansas corporation. The principal controversy is whether the petition stated a cause of action. Its sub*8stantial allegations, so far as necessary for the determination of this question in its general aspect (leaving some special features of the matter to be considered later), were as follow:
