STATEMENT OF CASE

On January 12, 2005, the State of Louisiana charged John Bryant (hereinafter “Bryant”) by bill of information with one count of violating La. R.S. 14:95.1, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. On January 18, 2005, Bryant appeared before the trial court for arraignment and pled not guilty to the charge. On March 2, 2005, the trial court heard defendant’s motion to suppress the evidence and motion to suppress statements, and held a preliminary hearing.
