The defendant, Robert Alexander, pleaded guilty under the Alford1 doctrine to one count each of unlawful restraint in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-95,2 assault in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-59 (a) (3)3 and assault in the third degree in violation of General Stat*109utes § 53a-61 (a) (1).4 The defendant was sentenced to a total effective sentence of fourteen years imprisonment, execution suspended after three years, with five years of probation with conditions in accordance with his plea agreement.
