Defendant, John Belk, was charged with two counts of felony murder predicated on the offenses of burglary and aggravated possession of a stolen motor vehicle, during the commission of which two people were killed when their car was struck by the vehicle that defendant was operating during a police chase. At the end of the bench trial, defendant was convicted of two counts of felony murder and one count of aggravated possession of a stolen motor vehicle and sentenced to natural life imprisonment.
