On June 15, 1944, Edward Bobowski was convicted in the recorder’s court of the city of Detroit of unlawfully driving away an automobile. On June 30,1944, the trial judge placed him on probation upon his personal recognizance in the charge of the probation department for a period of three years. On December 14, 1944, he was arrested for alleged violation of probation and summarily brought before the court that had placed him on probation. No written charges were filed.
