On the 12th day of July, 1988, a Kentucky State Police helicopter, on a routine flight over Lee County, participating in the State Police’s marijuana eradication program, spotted a patch of marijuana near a mobile home in what is referred to as the Blane’s Branch area of Lee County. The troopers in the helicopter notified troopers on the ground of their find and the location.
