This is an action to recover damages for personal injuries sustained by the plaintiff, while acting in the capacity of a laborer, by being caught in a rapidly revolving shaft and seriously injured. The negligence alleged, in substance, is that the defendant did not provide a safe place for the plaintiff to do his work; that it suffered to be used in its mill an uncovered shaft with projecting screws, over which, in the performance of duties connected with his service, the plaintiff had to step while such shaft was rapidly revolving, in the doing of which he was ignorant of the danger, but…
