On January 17, 1930, Hatton S. Tignor while working for Allen & Grarcia Company suffered an accident which cut off the fleshy part of his left forefinger, exposing the bone. An infection developed and on January 21st he went to a hospital where part of the first phalanx of the finger was amputated the next day. Before the operation he underwent the usual examination and was found to be sound as to lungs and heart —no signs or symptoms of myocardial weakness.
