I. Background.

On November 6, 1959 and after the trial of this case had been under way for over a week, the defendants moved for an order suppressing all evidence procured through law enforcement activities in and around Apalachin, New York, on November 14, 1957. 1 Their motions were made after a considerable portion of that evidence had been offered without objection.
