HANFORD, District Judge.

A collision occurred between the steamships Tremont and Ramona on a foggy night in the month of August, 1904, and the questions to be adjudicated in this lawsuit relate to the responsibility for said collision. The Ramona is presumptively the vessel in fault because she rammed the Tremont on her starboard side ~2 feet abaft her stem, but there are other circumstances to be considered. The Tremont is a large iron or steel vessel more than 500 feet in length, having twin propellers, and at the time of the collision she was outward bound, carrying a cargo of 10,000 tons…
