This is a suit for damages brought under the Federal Employers' Liability Act. The plaintiff was employed as an air-brake inspector in defendant's railroad yards, known as the Baden Yards, in North St. Louis. In the course of his employment and on the morning of December 25, 1925, he received an injury which necessitated the amputation of his left leg about five inches below the knee, and some other injuries.
