The defendant, Michael Piorkowski, was charged with murder in violation of General Statutes § 53a-54a (a).1 On February 16,1993, the defendant *207filed a motion to suppress two incriminating statements that he made to Norwalk police on October 21 and 22, 1992. On September 7, 1993, following an evidentiary hearing, the trial court denied his motion to suppress.
