Present and former employees of the Sheriffs Department in Madison County, Mississippi (collectively, Sheriffs Employees), brought this suit against defendants-appellees Madison County, Mississippi, individual members of Madison County’s Board of Supervisors, and Jessie Hopkins, in his official capacity as Madison County Sheriff (collectively, Madison County). The Sheriffs Employees alleged, inter alia, that Madison County violated the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), 29 U.S.C. § 201 et seq., by refusing to pay them owed overtime compensation.
