On April 30, 1920, plaintiff grazed or *693■slightly cut the skin of her left forefinger while handling index cards in the office of the defendant Modern Pattern & Machine Company, where she was employed as its auditor and office manager, receiving a salary of $60 per week. Infection developed in the finger followed by blood poisoning which extended through her left arm and shoulder resulting in serious illness and total incapacity for some months.
