Plaintiff sues for $1,185 as damages to 47 head of mixed cattle, shipped by him on March 1, 1927, from Lottie, La., to C. H. Rice & Son, in New Orleans, over the lines of the New Orleans, Texas & Mexico Railway Company. He alleges that the cattle, which were in good condition, cost him $1,347, but when car reached New Orleans on March 3, 1927, 8 of the cattle had died in transit, and between that day and March 11, 1927, when cattle were sold, 19 more died, all the deaths being due to the delay and negligent handling of the car by the railroads in not feeding and watering them; the remaining…
