Harshbarger, Justice:

This is an appeal by the Cabell County Deputy Sheriffs Association from an order of the circuit court of that county denying a petition for mandamus filed by the association. The controversy arose when the sheriff reduced the monthly pay of his deputy sheriffs by $100, effective January 16, 1975. The deputy sheriffs were paid $725 monthly from July 1, 1974, to January 15, 1975. Then their salaries were reduced.
