James L. Lubinski has been an alcoholic for many years. He started drinking in high school. By 1975, his chronic alcoholism was already of “some years duration,” and although he underwent chemical dependency treatment that year, Lubinski made “very minimal progress while in treatment.” Lubinski stopped attending Alcoholics Anonymous soon thereafter and *218has not been enrolled in it or a similar program since.
