Defendants appeal from an order granting summary judgment, pursuant to Rule 56 of the North Carolina Rules of Civil Procedure, in favor of plaintiff Nationwide Insurance Company. The motion was heard on 3 June 1991. The court rendered its decision on 2 July 1991, finding that the plaintiff was entitled to judgment as a matter of law. The order was filed with the clerk on 5 July 1991. Defendant argues on appeal that Judge Hudson lacked jurisdiction in Alamance County on the date the order was entered.
