In 1913, J. B. Bell procured a benefit certificate for the sum of $500 in the United Brothers of Friendship of Texas, a fraternal beneficiary corporation, incorporated under and by virtue of the laws of the state of Texas, in which V. NT. A. Bell, his wife, was named as beneficiary. About August 1, 1917, Bell applied for a new certificate, making oath that his former certificate was lost, and requested that in the new certificate his estate be named as his beneficiary.
