JANVIER, Judge.

On August 17, 1931, Paul J. Manfre purchased from the plaintiff, Abraham Burg-lass, a number of pieces of household furniture for $445.38, of which he paid a portion in cash. To secure the payment of the balance, he executed a chattel mortgage. In the act of mortgage, the property was described as follows:
