DAVID PURYEAR, Justice.

Jesus Aviles filed an application for writ of habeas corpus and plea in bar seeking to prevent the State from trying him on an indictment alleging intoxication assault and aggravated assault. The writ issued and after a hearing, the relief sought was denied. Aviles appeals from the order denying relief. In a related action, Aviles asks this Court to issue a writ of mandamus ordering the district court to issue a written judgment of conviction for driving while intoxicated (DWI) based on a jury verdict at a previous trial convicting him of that offense.
