The United States Secretary of Labor brought an action in district court to enjoin the Palo Group Foster Home, Inc. (“Palo”), its owner, Abraham Joshua, and Joshua’s other business, Ramsdell Foster Care (“Ramsdell”), from violating certain provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA” or “Act”), and to recover unpaid wages owed to Defendants’ employees plus statutory liquidated damages. The district court granted summary judgment for the Secretary, awarded actual and statutory liquidated damages to the underpaid employees, and permanently enjoined Defendants…
