This controversy arises from two separate, but related, cases in the trial court.

In 1989, in the case No. B-864818, defendant-appellant Shanon Gregory entered a plea of guilty and was sentenced to one year of incarceration (suspended), three years of probation, and fifty-six days in the Hamilton County Justice Center. Gregory served fifty-six days and received credit for this time. Later in 1989, Gregory was indicted on another charge in case No. B-892018. Gregory then fled from the jurisdiction, which violated his probation and also frustrated the progress of the second case.…
