MORGAN, Justice.

Kenneth Beug (Beug), defendant and appellant in this action, appeals from a summary judgment awarded to First National Bank of the Black Hills (Bank) and from the dismissal of Beug’s counterclaim. We affirm the trial court on all issues.

Beug was a farmer and ran a large-scale farming operation near the city of Sturgis, South Dakota. Beug and Bank at various times negotiated loans, the proceeds of which were used for seed, machinery, equipment, and operating expenses.
