BRODY, Justice.
Boyd Brooks, Jr. appeals from an order entered by the Superior Court (Washington County, Smith, J.) denying his motion for resentencing brought pursuant to M.R. Crim.P. 35. On appeal, Brooks claims error in the State’s calculation of presentence detention credit pursuant to 17-A M.R.S.A. § 1253(2) (Supp.1990) and challenges the court’s conclusion that a Rule 35 motion is inappropriate for correcting error in pre-sentence detention credit calculations.
