Plaintiff, John Stewart, was employed at the time of his accident as an iron worker for J J Construction and Maintenance Contractors (J J). J J had been engaged by Courtaulds North America, Inc. (Courtaulds) to renovate an area of its Le-Moyne, Alabama, plant. Stewart was injured when he attempted to aid an employee of another independent contractor, Industrial Tile, Inc.
