Following a jury trial, defendant, Nathan Palmer, was convicted of one count of attempted first degree murder (720 ILCS 5/8 — 4(a), 9 — 1(a)(1) (West 2002)), two counts of home invasion (720 ILCS 5/12 — 11 (West 2002)), one count of armed robbery (720 ILCS. 5/18— 2(a) (West 2002)), and four counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault (720 ILCS 5/12 — 14(a)(1), 14(a)(2) (West 2002)).
