The agreement on which the action is founded, stipulated that the defendants below would keep the plaintiff, Car-man, harmless from “debt or damage, in the matter of security *370that the said William Carman entered into for Wm. L. Eox, as assignee,” &c.

One of the errors assigned is, that the agreement is not supported by a sufficient consideration; and it would seem the most convenient in order to notice this first, although it is not the first in the series.
