Respondent Melvyn I. Weiss was admitted to the practice of *204law in the State of New York by the Second Judicial Department on April 2, 1960, under the name Melvyn Irwin Weiss. At all times relevant to this proceeding, respondent was a named partner with the law firm formerly known as Milberg Weiss Bershad & Schulman LLP (Milberg Weiss), located within the First Judicial Department.

The Departmental Disciplinary Committee now seeks an order, pursuant to Judiciary Law § 90 (4) (a), striking respondent’s name from the roll of attorneys on the ground that he was automatically…
