In this action involving a claim brought under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 for violation of Plaintiff-Appellee Joseph M. Dorr’s (“Dorr”) substantive due process rights, Defendants-Appellants City of Ecorse (“City”) and Larry Salisbury (“Salisbury”), who served as the mayor of Ecorse during the relevant period, appeal the district court’s denial of Defendants’ motion for judgment as a matter of law, pursuant to Fed.R.Civ.P. 50, and Defendants’ request for a new trial, pursuant to Fed.R.Civ.P. 59.
