Quinn, Chief Judge:

Early on the morning of June 3,1959, the accused stabbed his wife to death with a large kitchen knife. Shortly after he inflicted the fatal wounds, he reported the stabbing to the Air Police by telephone. Two officers proceeded to the accused’s home, and found Mrs. Erb on the living room floor with a knife protruding from her chest. They took the accused into custody.
