The defendant, Ernest Francis, after a jury trial, appeals1 from a judgment of conviction of murder in violation of General Statutes § 53a-54a (a).2 The trial court sentenced the defendant to a term of fifty years imprisonment. The principal issue raised by the defendant is whether the trial court abused its discretion by precluding him from cross-examining a state’s witness about her probationary status.
