This condemnation proceeding was necessitated by the relocation and construction of 8.646 miles of U. S. Highway 60, with limited access, from Morehouse northeasterly intersecting Highway 61 southeast of and adjacent to the City of Sikeston. A jury has awarded the landowners, the La-Valles, $130,000 damages and the State Highway Commission has appealed. The state’s witnesses placed the damages at $28,000, $49,000 or $57,750, and thus, since it is tacitly conceded that the landowners are entitled as a minimum to one of these sums, the amount in dispute exceeds $15,-000…
