On the first day of October, 1868, the defendant issued its policy of insurance commonly called an endowment policy, whereby for the consideration-of $1,180.90, paid to it by the plaintiff, and of the annual premium of a like sum to be paid during the continuance of the policy, it insured the life of William H.
