The appellees and plaintiffs below, W. M. Russell and Orlena Russell, are husband and wife, and they jointly own a farm in Breathitt county, Kentucky. They filed this suit against appellants and defendants below, Lexington & Eastern Railway Company and Louisville & Nashville Railroad-Company, seeking to recover damages for the failure of the defendants to construct cattle guards at what is alleged proper places where their *80track runs through, the plaintiffs’ farm, and negligently maintaining those it did construct, so that cattle strayed into…
