DAVIS, Judge:

The appellant, Robert A. Hartness, appeals from the May 5, 2004, decision of the Board of Veterans’ Appeals (Board or BVA) that, inter alia, denied his claim for a special monthly pension based on his status as permanently housebound. Both parties filed opening briefs and Mr. Hartness filed a reply brief. We will not consider Mr. Hartness’ claim for special monthly pension based on the need for regular aid and attendance, because on appeal, he explicitly abandons this argument. See Ford v.
