On the 2d day of January, 1850, a public law was enacted, the first section of which declared— “ That all such persons as shall become stockholders to the capital stock hereinafter mentioned, their successors *335and assigns, shall be and are hereby constituted and made a body politic and corporate, by the name and style of The American Live Stock Insurance Company.”
