September 21, 1931, plaintiff, living on the south side of Macomb street in Detroit, walked easterly to the southwest corner of Macomb and Beaubien streets, where, as he says, after observing the traffic light, he started north across Macomb street along that part designated as a crosswalk. Defendant was the owner of a comparatively new automobile, equipped with free wheeling, which he was demonstrating to a friend riding with him.
