The first claim is broadly for an apparatus for separating a hot gas from a hot liquid. The second is limited to an apparatus for separating a specific hot gas from a specific hot liquid, and includes one additional element — a “pulp digester.” It was not new in the pulpmaking art to utilize the hot sulphurous acid gases generated in a pulp digester to assist in cooking a fresh charge.
