The task facing the Court is to decide whether the record in this case supports the district court’s dismissal for failure both to prosecute and to comply with court orders. Fed.R.Civ.P. 41(b) authorizes a district court, on defendant’s motion, to dismiss an action for failure to prosecute or to obey a court order or federal rule. The court’s power to dismiss is an inherent aspect of its authority to enforce its orders and ensure prompt disposition of lawsuits. Link v.
