Defendant appeals by leave granted from an order denying his request for transcripts in order to facilitate his pursuit of postconviction remedies. We affirm.

Defendant was convicted by a jury of possession of cocaine, MCL 333.7403(2)(a)(v); MSA 14.15(7403) (2)(a)(v), and carrying a concealed weapon, MCL 750.227; MSA 28.424. Thereafter, in a separate proceeding, he was convicted of felonious assault, MCL 750.82; MSA 28.277, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, MCL 750.227b; MSA 28.424(2).
