The claims in this case are based on allegations of a misappropriation of ideas. Plaintiff, William X. Kienzle (Kienzle), is a nationally renowned novelist. In 1980, Kienzle submitted to defendant, Capitol Cities/American Broadcasting Company, Inc. (ABC), a proposal for a television series. 1 The proposed series was a situation comedy involving occurrences at an inner-city Catholic rectory staffed by a team of priests.
