The Central States, Southeast and Southwest Areas Pension Fund (Central States) is a well known multiemployer pension plan that serves members of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters who work in the midwestern United States. For years, Safeway operated many grocery stores in Central States’ coverage area. The employees in these stores were covered by collective bargaining agreements with the Teamsters.
