This action was instituted by nine corporations, operators of so-called "chain stores" within the state of Washington, for the purpose of restraining the collection of the business or occupation tax which plaintiffs alleged the defendants, as tax commissioners of the state of Washington, proposed to levy against plaintiffs in the amount of one-half of one per cent on plaintiff's activities, in so far as the same consisted of distributing commodities from their warehouses to their respective retail stores.
