On January 17, 2007, the Relator, Stephen M. Shea (“Relator” or “Shea”), filed the pending False Claims Act Complaint alleging that MCI/Verizon (“MCI” or “Verizon”) was submitting false claims for illegal surcharges on invoices submitted under two telecommunications contracts between the United States and Defendants (“FTS 2001” and “FTS 2001-Bridge Contract”).
