BACKGROUND

The plaintiff and the defendant were married on September 3,1961. On October 8,1985, the plaintiff petitioned the Connecticut Superior Court for a dissolution of the marriage, which the defendant contested. On December 22, 1986, the state court entered a judgment dissolving the marriage and inter alia ordered the plaintiff to transfer all of his right, title and interest in certain real estate and pay one-third of the net proceeds from his grandfather’s trust to the defendant.
